3 Great Spots To Eat Locally In Milwaukee

As parents, my husband and I do not get to get out as much as we like, but we are lucky enough to have grandparents close by so we can get out for the occasional date night. So on a warmer January Wednesday evening we were able to journey out and hit up these three amazing spots in Milwaukee.

Balzac Wine Bar

On the East side right off Brady Street and North Arlington Place is the awesome small plate and wine bar Balzac. We started our date out here and I almost did not want to leave. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, nightly and happy hour specials plus fantastic food. We ordered a lovely bottle of Mercat Brut DO Cava NV (Spain) and paired it with a wonderful cheese plate. We enjoyed watching the plates come out of the kitchen and took in the artwork adorned on the walls. Even if you do not have a whole night, pop in for a glass of wine and an appetizer and enjoy a little alone time to connect with each other.

La Masa Empanada Bar

Right next door to Balzac is La Masa Empanada Bar and I have to say I absolutely love this place. The atmosphere is fun and bright, the hand-crafted cocktails are delicious and the empanadas will leave you craving more. La Masa has happy hour specials and the kitchen is open late on Friday and Saturday (1 AM) and during the week the kitchen is open til 11 PM. This was the first time we had dined at La Masa and they did not disappoint, we tried The Cuban, Wisco Corn, and the Carnitas Verde each one was better than the last. I still think about them and cannot wait to plan my next trip back.

Third Coast Provisions

We closed out our date night at one of Milwaukee's hottest new restaurants Third Coast Provisions located in the heart of downtown. I cannot say enough great things about this restaurant the decor is stunning, the food is superb and the staff is well-trained and knowledgeable. We enjoyed a glass of wine at the main bar, learned about oysters at the lower level bar and devoured the lobster mac and cheese. They also have a wonderful happy hour (4-6 Pm) on the lower level and a late night happy hour (10-close on Friday and Saturday nights).

No matter your budget or what night of the week you are able to go out on, take a chance On a local restaurant and get out of your comfort zone or neighborhood. I know you will be pleasantly surprised. Also if you are a food lover like my husband and I are, our favorite way to dine out is to skip around and try a little at each restaurant. It also keeps us from feasting all at once and feeling overly full for the rest of the night, no one wants that.

Let Me Know In The Comments Below Where You Love to dine or your favorite date night activities.
